Barry
Dalton, Ph.D. - Director and Senior Ecologist
As Director of the Center for
Applied Ecology, Barry provides leadership and vision for the
organization. With over 26
years of project management, teaching and research experience,
Barry has made significant contributions to conservation in the
region. His areas of expertise include habitat
restoration and mitigation, ecological assessments, and land
management.

Lawrence Brewer, M.A. - Senior Plant
Ecologist
Larry is an ecologist with 23 years
of technical experience, including conservation organizations, environmental
consulting, teaching, and research. Larry specializes in rare
plant and animal species surveys, habitat assessments,
vegetation mapping, biological monitoring and analysis, wetland
surveys and delineation, and ecological restoration.

Mark Leopold, B.S. - Agricultural
Scientist
With over 25 years of
technical and teaching experience, Mark has worked closely with
farmers, landowners, and government agencies in Kentucky
developing and implementing conservation and production systems
that successfully manage farm and forestlands. He provides
on-the-ground implementation and oversight of
the Center's
restoration projects including construction, plantings, and invasive
species
control. Mark coordinates the field
crews and also trains and educates our student interns.

Scott Fennell, P.E., M.En. - Senior
Environmental Engineer and Scientist
Scott has 18 years of experience
in the environmental field and has completed over 50
projects in 15 states. His areas of practice include investigation and remediation
of environmental contamination, development of environmental
protection plans, and restoration of streams and
wetlands. In addition to project management, Scott is
responsible for all engineering aspects of the Center's
restoration projects, including conceptualization, design,
permitting, construction and monitoring.

Devin Schenk, M.En.- Ecologist
As a
graduate of Miami University’s Institute of Environmental
Sciences, Devin has over 6 years of experience working in the
environmental field. His areas of expertise include: ecological
restoration and monitoring, construction over-site, biological
assessments, environmental permitting, invasive species control,
and land management. Devin provides technical guidance on all of
the Center's ecological projects. He works as project manager
for many of our community projects, providing ecological
services to local non-profit organizations, governments, and
businesses. Devin also helps coordinate, train, and manage our
student interns.

Jessica Metzger, MEM, MF - Forest
Ecologist
Jessica
specializes in natural resources management, forestry, and
endangered species. She has experience in environmental policy
development, review and compliance. Jessica has successfully
completed conservation projects with a diversity of stakeholders
including government agencies, nonprofit organizations,
community groups, and private landowners. Jessica provides
technical support to the Center's ecological projects and
coordinates the Center’s marketing, fundraising and community outreach
activities.

Nancy Meyer - Office Business Manager
Nancy has
been with the Center since its inception. With over 25 years of
office management experience, Nancy oversees business
operations.

Kim Tromm - Office Department Secretary
As our
office secretary, Kim provides clerical support services to the
Center. She has over 14 years of office experience at NKU.
