Immediate Actions
All signatories of the ACUPCC are required to
initiate two or more immediate actions (see the
commitment letter for more details) to
reduce greenhouse gases while the
Climate Action Plan is being developed.
At the 12/13/07 meeting, the Task Force
recommended that the following actions be adopted by the NKU community:
- Encourage the use of and provide
access to public transportation for students and faculty/staff
through the existing
Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky
(TANK)/ NKU U-PASS program.
- Participate in the Waste Minimization
component of
RecycleMania, and adopt the
following associated measures to reduce waste:

Support the
NKU Recycling Program, which was expanded in fall 2007 to include aluminum cans, glass,
and #1 and #2 plastic bottles;

Encourage
NKU dining services to continue selling reusable coffee mugs that can be refilled at a
discount; and,

Distribute information about
recycling at NKU in residence halls and student
orientation programs.
