Choosing A Career
Undecided about your major? Confused about
your career choices? Need occupational information? The answers to these and
many other questions are available when you take advantage of the services
offered by the Career Development Center. You can find assistance in
choosing a major through career testing and counseling designed to clarify
your interests, personality characteristics, values, goals, and aptitudes.
The Career Development Center has extensive information about specific
careers including work content, skills required, salaries, employment
outlook, and additional training that may be needed in that field.

Landing that First Job
What are you going to do once you graduate from NKU? Do you know how to find
a job? By the time you reach your senior year, you already will have made a
number of choices -your academic majors and minors, your career goals, and
employment targets. The Career Development Center will assist you in
translating those choices into job offers. Hundreds of businesses,
industries, and school systems actively seek employees through our center
each year. The Career Development Center houses information about these
companies to help you in your job search research. NKU graduates are held in
high regard by employers, and our experience indicates that students who
have used the resources and services of the Career Development Center since
the beginning of their college careers are the most successful in the job
search process.

Learn About Yourself
If
you aren't sure of your strengths and skills or can't quite pin down exactly
what career might be best for you with your chosen major, the CDC provides a
variety of personality/trait testing (at a minimal charge) that can help you
discover the many avenues available to you with your talents and skills.
Or, stop by and use Discover Online, the guidance software that helps you define your
strengths in regard to your career choice. Discover Online service is provided at no
cost to students. Come by and learn more about you and what you can you do.
