Report #020770   SEP 30 2002-Monday-09:24pm
Location: LANDRUM BUILDING - SECOND FLOOR - COMPLAINT RECEIVED
Dispo: Female University employee reported that subject(s) unknown entered her office
and removed two (2) floppy disks.  Subject advised that one (1) of the disks were removed
from the computer, the other was taken off of the desk.  There was no signs of forced entry.
Subject is checking with department members to see if access had been given to her office, in
her absence.  Under investigation...

Location: DORMS/WOODCREST/WILLOW - FIRE ALARM
Dispo: NO FIRE.  Fire alarm received from the listed location.   N.K.U. Officers
along with N.K.U. Maintenance personnel responded and checked the area
finding no sign of smoke or fire.  Contractors working in the area advised that
they had accidentally activated a "Fire Pull Station" causing the alarm.  The
Central Campbell County Fire Department had been dispatched but were
disregarded by Officers on the scene due to the known nature of the alarm.  The
alarm was and the scene was cleared.  Case closed....

MARIJUANA/ARREST
Dispo: Vehicle was observed being operated at the listed location with an
unrestrained small child in the rear seat.  While questioning he driver it was
discovered that his Kentucky Drivers License was Suspended.  During a search
of the vehicle Marijuana was found inside it.  Subject was arrested and charged
with Driving On A Suspended License, Possession Of Marijuana, No Proof Of
Insurance and Failure To Use A Child Restraint.  Subject was transported to and
lodged in the Campbell County Jail.  Case closed....

was advised to file a theft report with Highland Heights, Ky. Police and was also
referred to the N.K.U. Parking Office for a replacement.  Case closed....

Dispo: NO FIRE.  Fire Alarm was received from the listed location.  N.K.U.
Officers and the Covington, Ky. Fire Department responded and checked the area
finding no sign of smoke or fire.  Investigation determined that the alarm was
caused when a boiler broke and flooded the basement area.  The incident was
referred to N.K.U. Maintenance for repairs to the boiler.  Case closed....

undetermined at this time.  The alarm was reset and the scene was cleared.  Case

Dispo: NO FIRE. Fire Alarm received, via the ESUSA Computer, from the listed location.
The Central Campbell County Fire Department responded and along with DPS Officers, 
Physical Plant personnel and the NKU Environmental Safety Officer checked the area
finding no evidence of smoke or fire. Upon investigation, the alarm was determined to
have been caused by a defective alarm pull-station. Alarm was re-set, building cleared
for re-occupancy and scene cleared at 1:30am. Referred to NKU Physical Plant for
repairs to the pull-station. Case closed...

#2.  Moderate damage was sustained by both vehicles.  One vehicle remained in service,
other vehicle was towed from the scene.  Case closed...

No Injuries
Dispo:  NO INJURIES.  2 Vehicles involved.  Driver of Vehicle #2 was driving
south on University Drive when Vehicle #1 turned on to Kenton Drive in front of
them.  Vehicle #2 struck Vehicle #1 on the rear passenger side.  Vehicle #1 then
continued on Kenton Drive and left the scene.  Vehicle #1 is described as a late
model Bronze Ford Taurus.  Under investigation....

personnel responded and covered a window that had been broken in the incident. 
Vehicle was towed from the scene to the owner's residence.  No charges were filed
in this incident.  Case closed....

Dispo: Residential Life Staff reported that a subject was damaging University
Property at the listed location.  Subject was reported to be removing furniture, from
his residence, and "breaking it." While responding to this location, Officer was
advised of a Fire Alarm Drop from the same location (See Report #020733).  Officer
spoke with the resident who stated that the furniture had been outside and was
damaged by other unknown subject(s).  Following a room inspection conducted by
Residential Life Staff and Officer questioning, subject was Arrested and charged with
Criminal Mischief -3rd Degree and Obstruction-Filing A False Report.  Subject was
transported to and lodged in the Campbell County Jail.  Report forwarded to the
Dean of Students and Residential Life Offices for possible further disciplinary action....

Dispo: Female subject reported that she was assaulted by an unknown black female. Upon
arrival, Officer spoke with the complainant who stated that on 9/15/2002, while walking from
the Woodcrest 20-minute parking zone, she was struck twice around the face by the unknown
female.  Subject did not advise the Officer if she received any medical attention as a result
of this incident.  Under investigation....

RECEIVED
Dispo: Female subject reported that male subjects were "spray painting" the sidewalk
and possibly the sides of Oak Apartment Building.  Officer located and spoke with the
subjects who stated that they were using Hair Spray to "chase off raccoons from the area".
There was no damage noted to either the sidewalk or building.  Case closed....

Dispo: University employee reported that there was a 1993 Ford, 2-Door, parked in
an area needed to conduct a Motorcycle Class, at that location.  Complainant requested
that the vehicle be moved to an area of the lot not needed for this class.  DPS dispatcher
attempted to locate and contact the vehicle's owner with negative results.  Vehicle was
towed from the area as requested.  Case closed....

Location: SCIENCE CENTER - THIRD FLOOR - FIRE-Fire Reported After 
The Fact
Dispo: On 9/12/2002 at 10:57am, the NKU Environmental Safety Officer advised NKU
DPS Office that he had received information that a Fire had occurred on 9/11/2002, at
the listed location. Neither the NKU DPS Office or the NKU ESO'S Office was notified
of the Fire when it occurred. A note, reporting the Fire, was left on the NKU ESO'S desk
following the incident. The Fire began when "oil being heated on a hot plate" caught fire.
An unidentified student extinguished the Fire with a Fire Extinguisher. No damage or injuries
were reported, as a result of this incident. The Kentucky State Fire Marshal's Office was
notified of this incident. Case closed....

Dispo: NO FIRE.  Fire Alarm received via Computer from the listed location.
The Central Campbell County Fire Department responded and along with D.P.S. 
Officers, Physical Plant personnel and the NKU Environmental Safety Officer
checked the area finding no evidence of smoke or fire.  Investigation determined
that the alarm was caused by contractors working in the area.  The alarm was
reset and the building was cleared for re-occupancy.  Case closed....

Central Campbell County Fire Department responded and along with DPS Officers,
Physical Plant personnel and the NKU Environmental Safety Officer checked the area
finding smoke in the area. Upon investigation, it was determined that the alarm was caused
by a grease fire on the lower level of this location. The fire was extinguished prior to the
arrival of DPS, Physical Plant and Fire Department personnel. The alarm was reset,
building cleared for occupancy (by Fire Department personnel) and scene cleared at
09:08 hours. Case closed...

Dispo: Officer observed a subject sitting in a vehicle at the listed location. When the
Officer approached, the subject quickly exited the vehicle and appeared nervous.
Officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  During questioning,
subject admitted that their was marijuana in the vehicle.  A weapon was also located in
the vehicle.  Subject was Arrested, Issued Kentucky State Citations for Trafficking in
Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana, Trafficking within 1000 Yards of a School and
Unlawful Possession of a Weapon on School Property.  Subject was transported and
lodged in the Campbell County Jail.  Case closed....
