Each employee of the University receives a written copy of this POLICY STATEMENT regarding a drug-free workplace and campus as well as information about the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse in the workplace and campus, availability of alcohol and drug abuse counseling and rehabilitation and penalties for violating the stated policies.

Through this program of providing every employee with the information listed above, as well as alcohol/drug abuse education and training programs, the University is making a good faith effort to maintain a drug-free workplace and campus.
For mental health/substance abuse needs of NKU faculty and staff health care policy holders, the health care plan’s counseling services may be utilized. The University’s Wellness Coordinator will provide information for this service and other resources available to employees. For information call (859)-572-5684.
Drug-Free Program Description:
Northern Kentucky University works to maintain a drug-free workplace and campus for all University employees and students. Through its Human Resources Department, an education and training program exists to insure that all University employees are aware of issues regarding alcohol and drug use/abuse in the workplace and campus including:
The dangers of such abuse
The policy of the University regarding a drug-free workplace
The availability of alcohol and drug counseling and rehabilitation
The penalties that may be imposed upon employees for alcohol and drug abuse violations which include, but are not limited to:
Disciplinary procedures.
Required satisfactory participation in a drug or alcohol rehabilitation program.
