ARTICULATION

Articulation
Articulation is the process of determining whether a course or group of courses offered at NKU is equivalent or comparable to a corresponding course or group of courses at another institution.
Articulation Agreements
Articulation agreements are used to assist students in taking the appropriate courses at another institution that will transfer for credit toward a bachelor's degree at the NKU. The agreement specifies which courses may be transferred to meet general education, major or elective requirements and help facilitate the successful transfer of credits from the sending institution to NKU.
NKU has a number of formal articulation agreements with community colleges and 4-year institutions in the greater Cincinnati area including those listed below.
Types of Articulation Agreements
- Course to Course Agreements - Agreements that specify equivalent courses between NKU and the sending institution.
- Transfer Course Agreements - Agreements that specify the transferability of a group of courses from particular institutions to NKU.
- General Education Agreements - Agreements which specify courses that satisfy general education requirements from sending institution to NKU. An example is:
- Major Prepartion - Agreements that specify the lower Division (Freshman and Sophomore level) courses required for the major at the transfer institution.
Transfer Without Approved Articulation Agreement
If you wish to transfer to NKU from an institution with whom NKU does not have an agreement, you may obtain preliminary information from the catalog and/or the webpage.
