Kentucky Transfer Policy

General Education Transfer Policy

The 2004 Revised General Education Transfer Policy provides guidelines for the transfer of general education coursework between public colleges and universities in Kentucky.

Transfer Frameworks

Kentucky colleges and universities have developed transfer frameworks and agreements to assist students in planning their college coursework for transfer to a 4-year baccalaureate degree program.

  • Statewide Field of Study Transfer Agreements
Field of Study Transfer Agreements identify a 60-hour set of coursework that will allow students to transfer a KCTCS associate degree toward a group of related degrees and their requirements at Kentucky’s public universities.  Field of study frameworks have been developed for the following academic areas:
  • Business

    AA Framework (42K PDF)

    AS Framework (42K PDF)

    Memorandum of Agreement (17K PDF)

Other Transfer Resources for Students Transferring From Kentucky Institutions

  • The Kentucky Course Applicability System (KY CAS)
KY CAS is an online transfer planning system available to all students and advisors.  The system shows students what courses to take and how coursework will transfer to participating CAS institutions.  Eastern Kentucky University, Morehead State University, Murray State University and the University of Kentucky are currently participating on the KY CAS system.

  • Transfer Student Handbook (876K PDF)
The Transfer Assistance for Success in Kentucky (T.A.S.K.) handbook was developed in collaboration with Kentucky colleges and universities.  Topics addressed in the handbook include financial aid, admissions, block transfer, transition issues and more.

  • Institutional Transfer Contacts (19K PDF)
Each Kentucky institution has a contact person who can answer transfer-related questions.
