RecycleMania is Over!

RecycleMania was January 27-April 5!

 

Last year, NKU took great strides in reducing

waste on campus by expanding the recycling

program. In support of the NKU Presidents Climate Commitment Task Force, we reduced campus waste even further by competing in

 

In the spirit of friendly competition, the

Recycling Program set an ambitious

goal for the NKU community: generate

less than 3 lbs of waste per person

each week. This is the weekly waste

per person collected by the winner of

last year's RecycleMania, University of

Texas at Austin.

 

Results

RecycleMania, a 10-week competition among U.S. college and university recycling programs.

 

The purpose of RecycleMania is to increase awareness of and

involvement with campus waste reduction reduction and recycling

efforts. Schools compete by measuring the total waste (trash +

recyclables) collected on campus from January 27-April 5. The

school with the smallest cumulative waste per person wins the

coveted "Bowling Pin" trophy (see above image), first introduced

in 2004.

 

Do Your Part!

Keep the spirit of RecycleMania alive at NKU by recycling and preventing waste whenever possible.

    NKU Shined in RecycleMania! When

    the final results were tallied, NKU

    placed 10th out of 95 schools

    participating in the “Waste

    Minimization” competition.
