Welcome to NKU's Web site for SACS Reaffirmation.
Updated: 02 January, 2008

The fact that we and the local community think "NKU has been doing a good job for years." is no guarantee that SACS will agree. Other institutions that thought they were doing a good job have been found seriously lacking in SACS's eyes. During a June 2007 orientation session in Atlanta, SACS officials reported the following findings from the review of Compliance Certifications submitted by last year's candidates for SACS reaffirmation:

  • 18 SACS institutions were denied reaffirmation, placed on probation, or issued warnings for being out of compliance in 2006.
  • Since 73 institutions were fully reaffirmed, the 18 cited above represent a 20% failure rate, a figure which definitely should not inspire complacency.
  • 86% of all institutions were initially found to be non-compliant with the guidelines for competent and qualified faculty.
  • 74% of the institutions were initially found to be non-compliant about having their academic programs properly approved by their faculties and in having stated learning outcomes.
  • 63% were initially found to be non-compliant with respect to institutional effectiveness (a SACS term that encompasses planning and assessment).
  • 63% were initially found to be non-compliant in regard to their general education core.
