- Completed recruiting compliance committee members and got all seven committees to work gathering data and conducting analyses for the Compliance Certification (Completed).
- Electronically collected more than 2,200 course syllabi for fall semester on schedule by August 31. (This database of syllabi will, at a later date, be linked to Digital Measures.)
- Opting for early retirement, Dr. Michael Turney left the position of faculty coordinator for SACS reaffirmation.
- Dr. Douglas Robertson accepts position of faculty coordinator for SACS reaffirmation.
Summer 2007
- June 11 - Members of NKU's SACS Leadership Team met with SACS officials in Atlanta to receive final guidelines and deadlines for NKU's reaffirmation.
- Continued to select and recruit compliance committee chairs.
- Continued collecting and reviewing past-due documents initially requested during fall 2006 and spring 2007, including course syllabi, faculty rosters, and academic department's program assessment plans.
- Provided individual feedback and hands-on "consulting services" to department chairs and others who requested help with their faculty rosters, syllabi, and/or assessment plans.
- Developed "toolkits," FAQs, a SACS SharePoint site, and other online resources to assist committee members, department chairs, and other administrators in preparing SACS-related materials such as faculty rosters and assessment plans.
- Prepared templates, identification and authorization of users and access levels, and worked with the vendors to adapt Digital Measures Activity Insight and WEAVEonline software to meet NKU needs.
Spring 2007
- A lively and well-attended "First Friday" celebration launched campus-wide discussions of possible QEP topics. Additional suggestions and comments were shared via Blackboard and e-mail throughout the first half of the semester. A series of open public discussions were then held before the QEP Theme & Concept Committee narrowed the final topic choices to five and presented them to President Votruba.
- Continuing conversations with other recently-reaffirmed SACS institutions helped refine and shape NKU's procedures for completing our Compliance Certification and led us to the software options that are now being implemented. Digital Measures Activity Insight will be used to prepare Faculty Rosters, and Centrieva's WEAVEonline will be used for both strategic planning and academic program assessment.
- The first round of collecting key documents such as faculty rosters and departmental assessment plans that will henceforth be collected on a recurring basis for Compliance Certification was successful for some but not all academic departments.
- Faculty rosters that were submitted were reviewed and returned to the departments to help them identify and correct potential weaknesses in their reporting of faculty credentials and future faculty hiring.
- Inter-divisional discussions were initiated to further integrate university-wide strategic planning, admininstrative unit planning, and assessment planning related to student learning outcomes.
- Additional committee chairs were recruited to serve on compliance committees.
